The impassioned chef is taking on obesity, heart disease and diabetes in the USA, where our nation’s children are the first generation NOT expected to live as long as their parents. Now that’s scary! Jamie starts his revolution by visiting the most obese city in the most obese region in the most obese county in the world- Huntington, West Virginia. As a county we can follow Jamie’s revolution on his new series Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution on ABC.

On the show’s premiere, we meet the Edwards family whose diet consist of bacon, eggs and cheese with deep-fried biscuit doughnuts with chocolate drizzle for breakfast; pizza, french fries, and corn dogs for lunch; and possibly take -out or fast food for dinner. The Edwards have four children  3 boys and 1 girl. Their twelve year old son, Justin, visited the doctor for the first time in a long time. There he found out he was morbidly obese and has a high insulin level and if he continues to eat the way he does he will soon have diabetes which could result in kidney failure, blindness, high blood pressure, arthritis, etc. A twelve year old, a 6th grader shortening his life 20 or 30 years. Justin is one of many- one of three kids are overweight or obese. Who’s fault is this?  It is now more than ever that we as a country need to  improve the quality of food available for our youth and making healthy foods more affordable and accessible for families.

Through his series, Jamie is inviting viewers to take a stand and change the way America eats, in our home kitchens, schools and workplaces. That’s how your start a Revolution: Real People Real Change.

Look close. You may be staring at the end of cancer. Those tiny black dots are nanobots delivering a lethal blow to a cancerous cell, effectively killing it. The first trial on humans have been a success, with no side-effects. Mark Davis is head of the research team that created the nanobot anti-cancer army at the California Institute of Technology.The 70-nanometer attack bots are made to attach the cancerous cell’s surface and carry a piece of RNA called small-interfering RNA (siRNA), which deactivates the production of a protein, starving the malign cell to death. Davis’s team are conducting additional trials to make sure that there are no side-effects whatsoever.

You can send as many of these soldiers as you want, and they will keep attaching to the bad guys, killing them left, right, and center, and stopping tumors. Ideally, it is amazing to think we can maintain the quality of life for cancer patients. And this can be another step closer in that directions.

Of course, if you don’t think the nanobots will work you can always try this.
